Psychologist Session

FAQ

What happens in a therapy session?

Treatment is individualized and at your pace.  I take an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning that I use multiple approaches and techniques to tailor treatment to your specific needs.   My favorite therapy modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centered Therapy.

I am very casual and will start where you are.  I will follow your lead and apply my knowledge and expertise to the stressors you present in session.  Therapy sessions are for you.  I will support and gently guide you as you explore sensitive issues in your life.

What is the ultimate goal of treatment?

Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I can help you identify your values and live alongside your values, despite your worries. Your life will become fuller, you will gain perspective, and experience less reactivity to stressors.

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I will help you learn how to control how you think and respond to specific triggers or stressors.  You will gain insight into problematic thought processes that greatly impact you mentally and physically.

How often do we meet, how long? Is it in person?

Therapy sessions range from 30 minutes to 50 minutes.  The frequency of sessions varies depending on client's needs, circumstances, and goals.  Many people want weekly therapy or bimonthly therapy appointments, I do my best to accommodate.

The initial intake appointment must be done in person. After the first appointment, therapy sessions can be done in person or over telehealth.

What is the cost and coverage?

Insurance is accepted. Currently, I am in network with Medicare, Optum, Ambetter, and Aetna.

Copays must be paid at the beginning of each session.  Please allow up to 72 hours to verify benefits prior to first appointment.  Private pay is available. Please call to inquire about private pay rates.
